Born in Guangchang, Jiangxi Province, in 1968, Luo Zhenping is a Beijing Master of Arts and Crafts and an accomplished ceramic artist and calligrapher. He currently serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Ceramics Committee of the China Culture Industry Promotion Association. He is also a member of the China Ceramic Industrial Association, the China National Arts and Crafts Society, the Beijing Arts and Crafts Trade Association, and the Beijing Calligraphers Association. In 1999, Luo pursued advanced studies in design at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. Between 2010 and 2015, his ceramic works received numerous gold, silver and bronze awards. At the 2025 “Gongmei Cup” Beijing Arts and Crafts Innovation and Design Competition, his underglaze-painted ceramic works Lotus in Golden Splendour and Dark Feathers over a Golden Pond each received a Bronze Award. In August of the same year, Dark Feathers over a Golden Pond, created in the in-glaze painting technique, was acquired by the Beijing Arts and Crafts Museum for its permanent collection. At the 2026 “Gongmei Cup” Beijing Traditional Arts and Crafts Competition, his underglaze-painted works Auspicious Feathers Welcome Spring and Great Fortune and Prosperity received the Silver and Bronze Awards respectively. Luo’s flower-and-bird compositions evoke the quiet refinement of early twentieth-century Chinese painting. Flowers, foliage and birds are rendered with an open, graceful touch and a warm, restrained palette. Red pomegranates, verdant leaves, irises and goldfish carry the unhurried elegance of another age—like morning light entering through a window in a secluded courtyard and settling softly upon a table: refined without affectation, vivid without excess.
